Thumb Lock™ - provides several options for holding equipment in place. They can be used for either temporary holding (on trips) or for fixed applications. Thumb Lock "buckles" are attached using adhesive bonding. A locking strap is used to connect the fasteners for holding. The locking strap is tear proof and can also be screw-fixed directly to a holding surface. This is useful for cabinet installations when fasteners are needed at just one end of the strap to hold and release equipment. (Fig. B at left). The adhesive used for the Thumb Lock system is the strongest self-sticking adhesive made by the 3M company. It provides exceptional holding strength in conditions of heavy vibration and jarring movement. Remarkably, the adhesive is non-hardening and peels off cleanly from most fastening surfaces, even hardwood finishes. For vehicle and marine use, this allows the use of Thumb Lock for temporary hold-down applications (on trips) without risk of damage to countertops or furniture..
