The fasteners have also undergone demanding seismic performance tests at major testing facilities, and are certified for earthquake safety by the government of Japan. FSI has been producing quality safety fasteners since 1991, and has over 6 million Thumb Lock fasteners installed throughout the world. All Thumb Lock fasteners and components are designed and manufactured in the U.S. PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS Componant Materials Fasteners -Model T-1, T-2, T-4: Injection molded GPC Delta ABS plastic. (UV inhibitors in white only). Model T-6: Injection molded polycarbonate, LEXAN 141 Locking Strap (colored) - Polyurethane coated polyester webbing, 3/4" and 1" width, thickness .060", rated breaking strength 1,000 lb./inch width, operating temperature (+ 225o to -40o). Strap is weather proof and tear proof. It can be perforated, sewn, riveted, heat welded, screw-fixed, and cuts to size with scissors. Locking Strap (white) -Vinyl coated polyester webbing (with UV inhibitors). Width, thickness, rated breaking strength, and use options are the same as above. Operating temperature (+225o to -20o F). | | Adhesive -3M VHB closed cell acrylic, #4950, temperature tolerance short-term (+300o to -65o F), long-term (+200o to -20o F). Bond strength: Aluminum (normal tensile) 140 lb./in.2. Average tensile and dynamic shear for other non-porous materials including fiberglass, metal, rigid plastics, glass, 100 lb./in.2. Excellent solvent and moisture resistance for boating and RV applications. The adhesive is non-hardening, leaves no residue, and removes in one piece. It has tested safely for use on standard equipment surfaces, enamel and gloss wood finishes. Actual installation life exceeds 20 years. At room temperature, the adhesive will bond to approximately 50% of its ultimate strength in 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours. HOLDING STRENGTH The holding performance of the Thumb Lock system is subject to the variables of the installation. These include the size and number of fasteners used, how and where they are attached, the size, shape and weight of the object being fastened, the material, condition and temperature range of the fastening surface, the frequency and duration of heavy weight loads, and other factors. The valves in the follwing table are typical values and should not be used for specification purposes. |
